External Coaching

Accelerated Schools rely on an external coach and internal facilitators, typically drawn from the school’s staff, to assist a school in following the model of transformation. Coaches participate in an initial five-day training session, followed by monthly training sessions with the SWCAS. They receive regular guidance and support from the SWCAS staff, including our dedicated Coaches’ Corner resource site where they can download materials, communicate with other coaches, and share best practices.

External coaches play an integral role in the school transformation process. The coach helps to guide, support, facilitate, and encourage the school community, serving as a mentor within the Accelerated Schools process to assist as the school itself determines the changes necessary. Coaches will provide objective feedback, expertise, and redirection to the campus when necessary.

The coach is available to provide professional development training on campus, collaborate with the leadership team, guide the Accelerated Schools process, attend meetings, and mentor teachers in Powerful Learning strategies. The number of days per week the coach is on campus is based upon the service model selected by the district.
